Stunning Dayana

170201 Dayana 218 R

Can we just pause a moment and look at how beautiful this girl is?

I might have a new model crush haha. A while ago now, I did a test with Jimmy Ford, and his girlfriend Dayana came along too. She had only been signed to GTR a few days before, and this was to be her second shoot. As usual, I spent some time at H&M gathering garments for the shoot, but this time I decided to get a hair and makeup artist on board too, to add that extra polish to the images. Que my go-to MUA and super-bro Jyoti Chandra.

I photographed Jimmy whilst Jyoti worked on Dayana’s makeup. Then we got shooting. Dayana was fantastic, especially for being inexperienced. She wasn’t stiff, and kept moving, experimenting with poses and expressions. We worked through the outfits really quickly, continuing to change garments and lighting.

I will not be surprised if this face becomes world-famous one day. Dayana was really fun to work with, and I was overwhelmed with how many great frames I had to choose from. Good luck in your career Dayana!

Oh and don’t forget to check out some more of Jyoti’s work too. Clicky click.

Mini Road Trip With Jeremy

I’m really enjoying doing a lot more testing lately, especially on location. Here are a few snaps from a last minute shoot with Jeremy Anderson from GTR. I initially wanted to drive down to Werribee for this, but we only got as far as Altona before I wanted to stop and shoot. Sometimes I just like to drive around and jump out when a spot catches my eye.170127-jeremy-anderson-207-r

I took the Profoto kit out with me, but I actually just ended up using completely natural light. When shooting tests without an assistnat, I find it faster, and this keeps the pace of the session nice and snappy.

This shot of Jeremy under the bridge was my favourite of the shoot. I love capturing interesting pockets of light and this one was a great find! Thanks Jeremy for being a great model, and MYER for the clothing.

Jamie x Summer

I love testing with new faces, and so when Jamie approached me on instagram suggesting we do a shoot, I jumped at the chance. I have recently been enjoying the fluidity of shooting outdoors on location, and using the natural light around me. It’s a great change from being in the studio and having to tweat light until I am competely satisfied with it, and it keeps me on my toes in terms of observation.

I had one of my favourite and most trusted makeup artists, Jyoti,  on board. Luckily, she is also a stylist, so I didn’t have to worry about wardrobe. Sometimes I can get by and put looks together, but often I am just bluffing and a proper stylist can get the job done much quicker.

I’m not incredibly fashionable myself. Haha.

Jamie was fabulous to work with, I can’t beleive she’s only just finished high school. We shot really fast, as she didn’t need to warm up at all and just got straight into delivering brialliant frames. She was able to emote really well, as was so in tune with her body shapes and positions, so the shoot flew by.

We also snuck in some winter looks at the end- can you tell it was actually really warm weather?

Taking My Studio To The Streets

160813 Matt Saccuzzo 171 R

I had a dream a few weeks ago about using the Profoto b2 kit on location in the city, with a beauty dish to shoot a male model.

SO…

Last week I decided to make this dream a reality and used the Profoto b2 kit on location in the city, with a beauty dish to shoot a male model.

The model in question was Matt Saccuzzo, from GTR. Matt is heading overseas soon, and needed some more fashion work in his book. So we hit the streets of Melbourne with a little team and made some magic. I had the fantastic Trent Pace as my assistant (I was actually super stoked that he wanted to assist me- I’m a fan of his work!), and Emma Gordon as my stylist.

3pm on an overcast day on Williams Street, we made some pictures.

Testing With Darcy

Doing a lot of testing with males lately- its great because you don’t have to worry so much about hair and makeup. Darcy Ellis, who is represented by GTR, came in to the studio a few weeks ago, and we shot a range of looks for his book. I styled the shoot, using garments sourced from Myer (mostly Kenji), as well as a few of Darcy’s own garments.

I shoot really quickly, so the whole test was over in about an hour, but we got a lot of different images that I was happy with. Darcy was really easy to get along with, very friendly and funny.

If you would like to test with me, please don’t hesitate to get in touch :D
