At the end of last year I was invited to be the official photographer for a fashion event in Flinders Street, hosted by the amazing Francis Kwamee of Upper Volta.
I had shot the campaign images for UV’s latest collection, but was surprised to see them printed larger than life-size on the wall when I got to the event!
Being the official photographer meant I had an all-access pass to the dressing rooms, behind the scenes, and the best spot in the media pit.

The models were really excited backstage, getting their hair and makeup done, and practicing their walk. There was a huge team of hair and makeup artists on board too.
Meanwhile, the crowd was growing and anticipating the start of the runway…

Outside the event space, tasty food was being cooked. The smell was incredible. All the models and staff got a box of rice, chicken, and beans to keep their stomaches full.
Everyone is ready to go on.
The crowd eagerly wait for the event to begin, looking through goodie bags as they anticipate the new collection.

The models get a final briefing. The air is filled with a nervous energy, but everyone is excited to walk the runway.
Final touch ups backstage.

The first group of models walks the runway.
There are so many looks in the collection- the crowd is loving all of the garments, and the models are strutting their stuff to the music. Some of them can’t help but grin at me once they hit the end of the runway.
The crowd loved the show, and the models all walked brilliantly. Everyone cheers backstage- they’ve done a great job!

Celebrating back stage.
