Richie @GTR

I love working with models on more than one occasion, because it means that the initial ‘awkward’ phase is already broken down. If I’ve shot a model before, and get to work with them again, we already have an established level of rapport, and that makes the second shoot even more fun! After photographing Richie Barron in the studio a few months back, I worked with him again (literally the next day) on location. I think we got some pretty decent shots!170630 Richard Barron 029 R

Johnny Harris also came along to play for a while, and we worked on some doubles images. I think these two work really well together, and they are both such lovely guys! Thank you GTR Global for putting me in touch with such fantastic talent!

“Changes” Editorial

It seems like a long time ago that I worked on this collaboration with Marlene Olsson and Erin Tunn, but its finally allowed to be shown to the world. We photographed this collaborative piece around the time when David Bowie passed away, so there was a little bit of an influence in that respect. We also had no stylist on the day, as our scheduled stylist unfortunately fell ill. So the styling was all up to me, and therefore ended up featuring such designer garments as a vintage kimono (inside out), and a queen size bed sheet. Going to be all the rage next season, I hear.

Read about the shoot in an earlier blog post here.

Shirley Fracture Campaign

2015-12-11 Shirley Fracture 022

Finally able to release some of the images taken for Melbourne label, Shirley Fracture. This label has a few different sides to it- leg wear, couture, and up-cycled garments. The team set out to capture some images that reflect the feelings of each section of the collection.

We had a great day shooting, with a fantastic team. I love having such a hive of activity in my studio. Also featured is Scout, a rescue dog who got to be a part of s few images too. He did a great job!

Fashion Event For Upper Volta

At the end of last year I was invited to be the official photographer for a fashion event in Flinders Street, hosted by the amazing Francis Kwamee of Upper Volta.

I had shot the campaign images for UV’s latest collection, but was surprised to see them printed larger than life-size on the wall when I got to the event!

Being the official photographer meant I had an all-access pass to the dressing rooms, behind the scenes, and the best spot in the media pit.

The models were really excited backstage, getting their hair and makeup done, and practicing their walk. There was a huge team of hair and makeup artists on board too.2015-11-21 Upper Volta Show 138

Meanwhile, the crowd was growing and anticipating the start of the runway…

Outside the event space, tasty food was being cooked. The smell was incredible. All the models and staff got a box of rice, chicken, and beans to keep their stomaches full.

Everyone is ready to go on.

The crowd eagerly wait for the event to begin, looking through goodie bags as they anticipate the new collection.

The models get a final briefing. The air is filled with a nervous energy, but everyone is excited to walk the runway.

Final touch ups backstage.

The first group of models walks the runway.

There are so many looks in the collection- the crowd is loving all of the garments, and the models are strutting their stuff to the music. Some of them can’t help but grin at me once they hit the end of the runway.

The crowd loved the show, and the models all walked brilliantly. Everyone cheers backstage- they’ve done a great job!
